Name: Lady Palutena
Age: Really old. She's a goddess. Devs state her appearance is "that of a 22-year-old woman".
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Canon (Kid Icarus / Smash Bros)
Key Points:
History:
Kid Icarus
Evil goddess Medusa breaks out of her prison in the Underworld with an army of demons and traps Palutena in the Palace in the Sky. As a last-ditch effort, Palutena grants one of her angels, Pit, a bow. Pit proceeds to go apeshit all over the demon army, gathers the Three Sacred Treasures so he can go even more apeshit, kills Medusa and frees Palutena. He gets turned into an eggplant a few times along the way, maybe. Palutena is impressed and makes him captain of her angelic guard.
KI: Of Myths and Monsters
Repeat the first game, but replace "Medusa and the underworld army" with "the Orcos". Pit goes apeshit over the invaders, and everyone is saved.
KI: Uprising
Repeat the first game verbatim, but skip the part where Palutena gets imprisoned. Pit and Palutena chat with each other about stuff while Pit does his thing, killing the underworld army and defeating Medusa's lieutenants to get to her. This goes well until Pit punches a magic mirror and creates Dark Pit (We just call him Pitoo). Then some space pirates steal the Three Sacred Treasures, so Pit goes after them. There's a giant space kraken battle, Pit gets the Treasures back, and uses them to shoot Medusa in her snakey-ass face. The end.
Except not because surprise there's someone behind Medusa all along. It's Hades, who is like Disney's Hades, except a little more evil and about ten times more gay. Palutena sends Pit after the Wish Seed to deal with him, which allegedly does exactly what one would expect. Pit beats its phoenix guardian, but it turns out that the Seed was bullshit. The mortal races don't know that, though, and just assume the Seed was stolen, so they all go to war with each other looking for it.
All the fighting wakes up the Goddess of Nature, Viridi. She gets pissed and starts throwing gigantic plant bombs everywhere. There's more fighting and more divine snark contests. All this conflict attracts the Aurum: hivemind, geometric aliens that destroy planets. Fortunately, another god by the name of Pyrrhon comes and has all the other gods work together to beat them, but then he plugs himself into the Aurum hivemind and so they have to kill him, too. More accurately, Pit has to kill him. The gods just play peanut gallery.
In all of that, an evil, magic, mind-controlling parasite escapes and infects Palutena. She turns evil and Pit teams up with Viridi to fix things. With some help from Pitoo, they kill all the magic parasites and free Palutena. With everyone all fine and happy now, they turn their attention back to Hades. Pit goes after him with the Three Sacred Treasures, but Hades destroys them and eats Pit. Pit gets out, gets a hold of what amounts to a divine Gundam, and lasers Hades into the ground. Everyone is happy. The End.
They also take a vacation to Smash at some point.
Personality:
Palutena is the Goddess of Light, and thus embodies all that light represents: wisdom, kindness, knowledge, guidance... that sort of thing. She watches over her domain in a motherly fashion, caring for her angels and protecting the livelihoods of humans. She tends to take a passive role in both regards, supporting them from her palace in Skysorld rather than getting involved directly. Her gentle nature has earned her a fierce loyalty among angels, who will not hesitate to risk their lives defending her. Unfortunately, that same motherly nature also drives her to not put her angels in harm's way, resulting in a force that is, while devoted, rather ineffective in actual combat. If she must send an agnel, she sends only her most adept, the ones whom she knows can handle themselves. 99% of the time, that means Pit, and only Pit. The humans share a similar sort of loyalty, but only in the fact that Palutena is the only deity that actually watches out for their interests and actively protects them. Still, she has been known to complain about humans from time to time, so it is not a perfect relationship.
Despite her position, Palutena is not above lighthearted fun, and will sometimes use casual, fun conversation to lighten the mood. Most of the time, this takes the form of commentary to Pit about whatever mission he's on, as well as bantering with the other gods, whether or not they are friend or foe at the moment. She will provide advice and instruction to Pit where necessary, but as long as he's going in the right direction, Palutena isn't afraid to take some time to shoot the breeze or tease Pit. He takes it well, though. Towards the other gods, she's a little colder, especially towards Hades, but she and Viridi can and have gotten along if they share the same goal.
As a divine being, Palutena is completely aware of the fourth wall and her status as a character in a video game. She has no trouble explaining controls to Pit via button prompts and poking fun of standard video game tropes from time to time (She and pit even take a break from the tutorial at one point to play some Smash Bros). This is generally downplayed, partly because Palutena understands the need for serious times in a narrative, and partly because, game or not, it's still their reality.
Gem Considerations: Cryolite. It is a gem known for its connection to angels and the divine, which go hand in hand with Palutena's status as a goddess. It is also associated with knowledge and psychic seeing, which fall neatly into her domains of power. The powers her gem will grant will be associated with knowledge and light, granting her powers mostly for support purposes as it was in Uprising, be it scrying, teleportation, telepathy, or the occasional giant laser.
Power considerations:
Losing her existing powers will take quite a bit of getting used to, but she is an immortal being with a great deal of patience. So long as she knows that her gem will grant her a fraction of her power back and that she can eventually return home, she will be able to keep her cool after some initial frustration and adjustment.
(Besides, since there are no Kid Icarus games in the near future she may as well take some time and have fun with it. Waiting between games can get boring.)

Key Points:
- Kid Icarus: Palutena gets captured. Gives Pit a bow as a last-ditch effort. Pit saves the day.
- Of Myths and Monsters: Palutena has a bad dream. Gives Pit the bow. Pit saves the day.
- Uprising: Bad stuff happens. Palutena tells Pit to save the day. Pit saves the day with Palutena chatting with him and other gods in the background.
- She only takes all this stuff semi-seriously. She provides Pit with support, but most of the time it's just commentary, banter with their enemies, and lighthearted snark.
- Her ultimate goal is to preserve humanity, but it's questionable how much she actually likes them. She likes the ones that worship her, at least. Maybe.
- As a goddess, is fully aware of and for the most part ignores the fourth wall.
